Top 5 Ass Savers for your single speed adventures

Dirty back, wet ass and water dripping from your jeans. We all are very familiar with sudden cloudbursts which usually hit us completely unprepared. For these situations there exist ASS SAVERS! Ass saver is basically a foldable fender which protects your ass from getting wet. You can easily carry it around in your backpack and put it on just in a case of a rain. This way your fixie still looks on point but most importantly your ass will be dry whenever the storm comes. Here is the list of 5 best looking ASS SAVERS which can serve you very well out there on the muddy bike lanes!

Number 5

Pure City Mini Fender Set

0.15 pounds or 70 grams per fender makes these permanent mini fenders one of the lightest on the market. If you don´t feel like putting on the ass saver each time when it starts to rain than get pair of these. They fit any bike with brake bolts and come in 4 different colors: Black Reflective, Gloss Black, Matte Black and White.

Number 4

SKS X-Tra Dry

Quick-release strap grabs onto seat post or seat tube making SKS X-Tra Dry easy to put on immediately when it starts to rain. Pivot behind the quick-release strap enables you to change the angle to precisely protect you from the water and mud. Either White or Black this long, narrow ass saver is suitable to any kind of wet-weather cycling.

Number 3

 Ass Saver Wide (ASW-1)

Number 2

Pure Fix Ass Saver

Critical Cycles Classic Fixed Gear Track Bike

Critical Cycles Classic Fixed Gear Track Bike

This Critical Cycles Classical Fixed Gear Single-Speed is incredibly looking bike. It´s cool, sleek and the matte looks amazing. The price of 180$ does not even fit to all what it offers. Flip-flop hub, hand-built steel track frame, urban comfort saddle and pursuit bullhorn handle bars are all parts of this incredible bike. The only cheaper and possibly not so reliable parts are plastic BMX pedals which could have been made out of steel, however its overall sick visage compensates for this little setback.

BULLHORN HANDLE BARS

Every fixed gear cyclist will prefer one riding style over another, but many flock to the pursuit handlebars for the comfortable forward position. The structure of these bars allows the cyclist to use a variety of hand positions for all kinds of riding. Whether you’re looking for a classic style or a champion on the racetrack, the pursuit fixie is for you. These handlebars are lightweight but strong for easy and reliable riding.

At a jaw dropping prize of 180$ (approx. 180€ or 160£) this Florida based single speed beast is a perfect match for anyone looking for a good quality at a reasonable price. The urban geometry frame and 4 different color mixes are guarantees of many compliments when cruising streets on this beauty. The rear hub is a flip-flop which allows you to quickly change from single speed to fixed gear by simply flipping the rear wheel. A great addition from the manufacturer are wider (28c) tires for increased contact and control in urban settings.

Why are wider tires an advantage?

Wide tires can provide more comfort than narrow tires, all other things being equal.

With a larger chamber of air between you and the road, a wider tire allows you to drop the pressure without running the risk of a pinch flat (where the inner tube gets punctured as a result of being sandwiched between the wheel rim and the ground). The lower pressure increases the amount of cushioning you get from the road, improving your comfort. Simple as that.
